Hi everyone,

We went to the Mid-Atlantic Dachsund Fest today.  Lots of stuff going on there.  Skeeter and Boone were blessed by a minister.  The was a pet photographer there so we had pics taken and ordered copies for family members.  Kevin bought a "we don't need no stinking badgers" t-shirt.  Three Dachshund Brewery was there with hats, shirts and root beer.  Since Kevin wore his Three Dachshunds hat and t shirt to the event, we were pretty set on logo clothes, so he bought the root beer.  DRNA and DelMarVa Dachshund Rescues were there with pups for adoption and loads of dachshund themed gear for sale.  There were raffles, races, nail clippings, and many other vendors.  As usual, Boone's markings brought him lots of attention.  We had the hardest time just walking into the place because every few feet someone would stop us to fuss over him.  It was very noisy there, which made Skeeter very nervous.  Of course, noise didn't bother Boone at all, but since Skeeter was so ill at ease we left after a couple of hours.  The event is free, but with vendors, raffles and donations, we parted with a good deal of money anyway.  It's a great event, so if you are ever able to do so--go!

Hey Jeri,

Where was it and how do you find out about it?  We would be interested if it is not too far.  Since Delmarva was there, it can't be too far!

Hi Dianne,

It is an annual event.  This year it was held at the Prince William County Fairgrounds, just outside of Manassas, VA.  I know they have held it there in the past, but I do not know for certain if it is held EVERY year, since this is the first time we have gone.  Since it is organized by DRNA, they post info on their website, www.drna.org

Another option you might want to explore are dachshund meetups.  There are several meetups in the area, and you can go to www.meetup.com to see if there is one near you.
