Some Pretty bad news (not a typical Tues. Morning meeting)

So this morning's meeting went a  little something like this

VP of our company " Well, as you see I asked Allie" she is my younger cousin whom i work with "to join us this morning because I have some pretty unsetteling news... the powers that be have decided to close our San Diego branch" 

Nice meeting right! So please keep your fingers crossed that I can get online business started and not be SOL on a job. 

So I am a little up set this morning but i am all  becuase how else am i going to get thru the day.

Maybe you can get unemployment while you get it going. :xfinger: Classify it as a hobby till you actually start making money from it.  I went through this a couple of years ago when they closed all our dress shops because the owner wanted to retire. Good luck!!!

Sounds like the meeting our office had back in 1992!!  Only they made us come in to a special all person meeting on a Saturday! Said they were closing all the offices except for the two big cities in our state and things would be done by phone once they got the call centers going. 

Resulted in my Twinkie angel and I having to move from her doxie step siblings!!.  No more doggy day care!!  It did totally ruin my finances, and I am still getting out of debt from having homes in 2 cities for almost 5 years or so!  We did survive in a different city she for 7 more years and I am in my 10th year here!!

How many are being laid off? If there is a large number and they are closing suddenly, your state might have some type of "plant closing law" .  In our state it means if they don't give employees 60 days notice, and they cannot establish they had no possible way to forsee it would happen, they may have to pay you wages for that 60 day period.  If so, it usualy does not happen imediately but does eventually happen.  Most of the time when it is extremely slow happening it is because some big company is claiming they had to keep it a secret so they would have chance to sell business instead of just closing it. 

Even if it is going to be a while before it happens, check with your unemployment office to see what you need to do, and what benefits services might be available.

That is awful news!!! Good for you for keeping your chin up though!!!  :apls:   My husband went through the same thing two months before we were scheduled to get married.  We were really shocked and confused about what to do.  He went into the unemployment office and was able to quickly find a new job that he really enjoyed.   They were very helpful to him and did what they could to help him out when he was between jobs.   

I'll be praying that you are able to get your online business sstarted really soon and that it will flourish quickly.  Just a thought....Maybe this is God's way of showing you its time to start your business now, not just thinking about it???  Who knows though.   I really hope everything works out for you.   We'll be thinking of you. 

By the way:  I hope I didn't offend you in any way by mentioning God.   Not everyone believes in Him, just wanted to encourage you if you do.

Sorry I have been gone for a while, dont worry you didnt offend me in anyway I grewup in a baptist  family (not that i go to church any more.. really who has time to when you have a husband and two doxies who think they will die if you leave them for a minute. Well, semi good news is that i have a new job BUT it takes me twice as long to get to and tripple the amount of gas and they are paying my the same except only 80% of medical no dental. But I did just get an offer at another place that is literally 2 miles away from my house But they are only able to pay me a $1.50 less than my current job and no bene's ( they are a newer company and currently looking into them) essentially I would be making the same becuase i would be saving about $200+ a month in gas. We are slowly but surely getting back to "even". The pet supply bus. is on hold right now, we have everything all set-up all of out vendors nad distributors are in place and we have accounts with all of them now all we need is the money to purchase inventory and get the site up and running.
