CALM SEAS AHEAD

Things are starting to calm down in our world.   We should close on our new house this week. 
The shop where Dan works (the one that caused the damage to my Ford Escape) finally saw things my way and submitted the estimate for the repairs to their insurance company.  Long story............last straw for Dan.  He has busted his hiney for that company and they have done nothing but abuse him, including saying that Dan is costing them money.  So, Dan started looking for a new job.  Long story short............HE STARTS HIS NEW JOB AUGUST 9TH!!!!!!!!!!!

He will be 6.6 miles from home instead of 40.  The place where he works now is going to  when they find out they've lost him.  Dan is General Manager and is a great organizer and people-person.  No one is indispensible, but Dan comes close.  That place will feel it when he leaves.  (Wish I could be a fly on the wall)     He will be General Manager at the new place too.
And I have a promotion on the horizon..............my boss wants to make me head of the drafting department!

It will be so nice having one of us close to home.  I worry about the dogs, horses, cat and house with us both being so far away.  I still have to commute 50 miles to Anchorage to work, but thats okay.  I'm glad life will be easier for Dan.  He only has to work 4-7 more years.  I hope he's real happy at this new place.  He's one of those guys who doesn't really see his job as a job.   Its always been something that he enjoys doing.  I am also very fortunate to have a job that I love, and good people to work with.
