And at least trying the treats to get Chilie to learn to walk by my side.  If that doesn't work, then we'll have to do an obedience class.

I took Chilie and Lara on a walk today around our complex.  Things were going just fine at first.....Lara was holding my hand and Chilie was walking along with us.  But after Chilie went potty is when it all changed.  Lara no longer wanted to hold my hand, so I let her walk freely in front of me while Chilie lagged behind me.  When we got near the parking lot, I took Lara's hand again (which she objected to by pulling hard!) and tugged for Chilie to come along.  Well, Lara kept pulling, wanting to keep walking, and Chilie kept resisting, wanting to stay put and sniff.  There I was in the middle with an arm outstretched holding onto my toddler and the other arm outstretched holding onto Chilie's leash.  I tried tugging, giving "come" as the command.....nothing worked.  Chilie wouldn't listen.  Finally I had to pick BOTH Lara and Chilie up and go back into the house.  Anybody who was watching (we were about 15 feet from the playground, so there were kids and adults there!) had a pretty amusing sight to see!

And this isn't the first time this has happened! :idiot:  One other time I actually had to drop Chilie's leash (she refused to come with me) and run after Lara before she got too far from me.

LOL!!!  You poor thing!  It would definitely be a lot harder training a dog with a toddler along.  Doxie vs. Toddler........hmmmmm.......both very stubborn with wills of their own, pulling mom in two different directions.  So...did you enjoy your outing???   :2funny:

Wouldn't it be wonderful if our doglets came when we called??????

Hope you were able to have a little fun on your outing anyway !

Our outings are enjoyable, even when I am being pulled in two different directions.  I just always wonder what onlookers are thinking.  I would laugh at me!  Most of our outings end with me carrying at least one of them back home.  LOL!  Going to try the treats, though.  We'll see if that works.
