Dee Dee and Hallie

We just got home from the vet. Her anal sac thing has shrunk by 75% since Friday!! So it's 25% the size it was. A tumor would/should not do that (its not 100% because anything is possible but the chance of it being anything bad at this point is so remote). The vet didn't even put her out and biopsy it because he is so unconcerned about it being a tumor that he said it would be counterproductive to stick a needle in there, as that can potentially cause a problem too and we'd have to put her out. He was very surprised that it went down. So he just took her blood and we'll run a panel as well as urine and stool, and sent us home with another weeks worth of antibiotics and will recheck her next Wednesday.

I can't believe it. I am SO relieved. I'm not letting her out of my arms today other than to let her pee because I have to keep hugging her. :) I've never been so exhausted and happy at the same time. Glad this week is over! Thanks for all the rays and patience and support.

WHEW! What a relief!  I was upset that I was too busy at work to check on Hallie's status.
Now you can relax a little and have some quality, stress-free snuggle time

HOORAY!  We're SO glad to hear that it's good news.  You must be relieved beyond words.  Hugs to you and Miss Hallie BB!

Oh lordy, I've been holding my breath all day, cause I was in Loveland w/ Maggie. Whew.  Any possibility that it was the AG rather than a back episode?  Warm hugs and sloppy kisses from Colorado.

Just a big WHHHHHHHHHEW from the Central CA sector.  I am giddy with relief.  This is GREAT!!  Please save a hug from me for our li'l Hallelujah Hallie.

Dee Dee and Hallie

THANKS you guys so much, I am sure I'll wake up tomorrow morning happy to realize it is true rather than waking up to thinking the opposite for so long. We've been resting and eating up a storm and went to the park again tonight to sit on a picnic bench and watch a ball game. Tomorrow I am going to take her for a stroller ride with my aunt where we usually walk. Yes I do still think she did have a mild back episode unfortunately but she sure has not shown any sign of it in the 3 weeks (today) that it happened other than that one evening. I have a feeling the anal sac thing came on after several days of inactivity from being crate rested. But I could be wrong!! It would be wonderful if that back thing never cropped up again. I feel like never leaving the house with her again. But she is so HAPPY, she obviously feels just great. She is my Hallie girl again...she has felt real good all along but now she's really ready to be 100% Hallie, so I have to watch her close and I am picking up her toys for a little while as she grabbed one today which was so cute but she tends to shake them so I distracted her and did the old bait and switch trick. I'm getting lots of kisses and tail wags and she's bossing her muther around (BARK...pick me up. BARK I want a cookie. BARK I want to go outside...I love it!)

Suzie! I am so sorry I have been so wrapped up with this I haven't checked in with you and Maggie....what are the details? GRANDMA??? Awesome.

Sandi how is our Maddie?

Dee Dee...I'm sooooooo relieved to hear about Hallie....I know I haven't been posting much but I do come on here every so often to catch up and to see what's happening with everyone...I was sooooo sad when I first read about Hallie a few weeks ago...and then when I read about a possible tumor....well I was completely beside myself with worry for her and you...since reading that post the other day all I've done is hug my girls and carry them in my arms...thinking how would I react in your situation ...and thanking God that my girls are still in perfect health...and hope it stays that way for them...it has really brought me more into focus with my girls after learning of Hallie's troubles..not that I took them for granted...just made me more aware of how things can change in a moment's notice...and how special these little dogs are to us...to me...so enjoy every moment I can with them...they still make me smile and chuckle...never had dogs before that did that for me....they make me happy...
Please give that little girl a big hug for me ...and you too....
I'm so happy for the both of you!

What a wonderful post Cheryl. You really summed up how we all feel about our little guys I think!! You are right....3 weeks ago today I also had a perfectly healthy little dog all her life. It changed in an instant. And I still do have a healthy little dog!! It is just now we have gone through our first really rough spot. And that day will come for each of us, sooner or later. It often hits you out of the blue. So yes we have to treasure every SECOND. I have done that with Hallie too, every day I've had her I really feel like I have made the most of every minute possible and will continue to do so. They are so precious and time goes way too fast. I expect Hallie to be 100% soon (as far as she is concerned she has been all along) and no more problems!!! :)
Thanks for writing Cheryl I think of you guys a lot and am glad I had good news to report today! Hug the girls for us too.

Dee Dee and Hallie

The vet just called and her bloodwork all came back perfect. So that further rules out tumor. Yeay. The only thing off was her urine was a bit dilute, which I'll talk to him more about on Wednesday. She has always drank a lot of water (I think anyway...more than my last two kids) and has always had dilute urine. But that hasn't  changed since I got her, so I'm thinking it's just "her". Anyway it was good to hear everything came back good!

Dee Dee, I am sooooo happy for you. She is 100% your Hallie girl again. This is reason for you to cuddle with her and tell her that she is a good girl.  :love7: :love7: : :love4:

Beth

DeeDee, that's great news about Hallie's bloodwork.  I am so glad that everything is ok with her.  It is amazing how these little doggies manage to steal our hearts, isn't it?  We're going out of town this weekend, so I dropped Chilie off at my dad's yesterday.  I know she's in excellent hands, but I miss my Chiliedog so much!  I think you have to be a dachshund owner to truly get it.

Dee Dee,

Please let us know if she is doing well or is on a relapse. We want to know Hallie girl is doing great.

is a great idea. Too bad the funding isn't there and we do not have a company to do it.

Dee Dee and Hallie

She is doing great, she is forbidden to relapse.  Thanks for asking about her. I'm hoping her anal sac is normal by Wednesday when she gets her recheck. Now we are just still having to restrict her activity but she is feeling great.

Beth I hope you have a good weekend, it sounds like Chilie is in the best of hands! You are lucky to have your Dad to care for her. I know it's so hard to leave them though even for a short time. Love your slogan! There is always Cafe Press... :thumb:

Dee Dee,

glad to hear she is doing great and is having no relapse or regression issues. Also glad to see that on your photography site you have made progress.  Awesome in both things, hope to see the naturally bouncy Hallie soon. Let us know when she is back to that physical and mental state.

Some day I hope to be as good a person as my dog already thinks I am!!

Oh Hallie Berry Butt....we are SO happy you are getting better!  Please snuggle lots with mom and take it easy.  We think about you all the time - we like to play in the water and we remember the awesome piccies of you on the beach that your mom shared a while back.

That is such great news Dee Dee! It got to a point where i couldnt read your posts b/c i found my self way too close to tears (as i always do, how horrible even when i see a dog on tv i get all choked up -what a mush I am) back to the subject at hand, I feel like I felt when Bish had his surgery and then found out the lump was nothing. I  that there was nothing wrong for Hallie, and I am extatic that she is in the clear. My heart sank when you were talking about a tumor. I thought to my self WHAT!!!!!!!!!! A TUMOR!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why do bad things happen to great dogs! Hallie is an amazing dog Dee Dee, you both are so lucky to have eachother!  :apls:  :apls:   :apls:   :apls:  :apls:  :apls:  :apls:

Dee Dee and Hallie

Thanks so much you guys! I know too many of us have been through this so know what it's like.

Etta...I know how you feel, I went to dodgers list during this for information and it's a wonderful place but I just can't bear to go back, it is so depressing (and scary!!) to see how many of our little guys have these problems.

BUT Hallie is doing GREAT. She's acting totally like her old self although she pretty much has since the morning after this happened. She would take off running and playing if she were allowed I'm sure. Maybe I can tie a helium balloon to her and she can run with low impact heh.  :walk2:
