Long, long, night

Last night was one of the longest I've had in a while, at least when it comes to Schatzi and Molly keeping me awake. They even had Randy up a couple of times.
Schatzi absolutely LOVES Dingo bones. I'll usually get the small ones or the rings for her. I like the fact that they aren't all rawhide and they have the small amount of chicken breast in them. They also don't get all gooey like rawhide does.
I went to Big Lots on Wednesday. Normally a pack of 2 Dingo Rings or small bones would be around 3 or 4 dollars. Well they had a bonus bag with 1 ring, 2 small bones, 1 small Big Chew, 3 sticks, 1 ring and 3 small munchies (compressed chicken breast chew) for 5.00. I grabbed it. They also had a Big Dog variety, but Molly doesn't do well with Rawhide of any kind. I knew that I could give her a small one and that would be plenty for her.
My mistake was giving them something anytime close to bedtime. Apparently Molly went through her chewstick quickly. Schatzi took her time, especially since she is much smaller. Before we turned out the lights, Molly was on the bed looking at Schatzi's chew and softly grumbling. She wanted us to know what she was wanting. What we couldn't help but to laugh about was this: Schatzi had gotten tired of chewing and had her partially chewed stick laying on the bed with her destuffed koala bear on one side and the destuffed platypus on the other (from the treatbox)  and she was eyeing it also, just making sure it was safe. If only my camera had been close by.
Finally Molly found a small piece and grabbed it and all seemed right with the world. Lights were turned out. I really think Molly may have gotten the rest of the stick, but it was dark. Well, for the rest of the night or at least until 2 or 3 in the morning, Molly would suddenly remember what she was wanting and would sit up on the bed and start grumbling. That's the best way to describe it. Think of an under her breath growl. This meant that every 20 or 30 minutes I was telling her to lay down and be quiet. Finally Randy woke up too. That was when he was looking for the piece of chewstick to see if he could just get it off the bed but it was no where to be found. Putting her out of the room would only have made her do the same thing louder at the door. She finally gave up, but not without both of us wanting to strangle her (not that we ever would)
I can definite say that I know the meaning of someone being "as stubborn as a bulldog"
Of course, Schatzi slept through all of this, curled up next to my side as happy as could be. The only time she moved was to see what all the racket was about!

Sounds like a fun night!
What time does it get dark there?  We are approaching our longest day -- June 21st.  But the days are pretty long right now.  Still light at midnight, darkest around 2, and getting light behind the mountains at 3.  I love it.

Sounds like us the other night. I had desqeaked the toys from the treat box and kept one of the squeakers. Well I squeaked it under the  downa which was folded on the end of our bed. Amy spent a good hour looking for the SQUEAK, with Oliver semi interested.
Then Dear darling husband squeaked it a few times under the bed and aound the room, so it was on for all young and old. Amy got her self to the stage of panting with the spam hanging out of her mouth, Oliver I think had finally twigged it was us that were teasing. LIghts out brought no releif, it took about an hour of, switch on light,  put her back in bed, turn of lights only to  hear her up and under the bed, in the ensuite.

Don't know who was the worst Nick or Amy.

Amy here finding and protecting MY SQUEAK is very important, to me at least, so any one find it please tell me

Don't you just hate it when the humans are worse than the puppers? Randy will do that too. He loves to get them both wound up at nighttime. Luckily, they will both go to sleep pretty easily, as long as there isn't a bone involved. I was having a repeat performance this morning, but I moved Schatzi's chew out of the room completely and Molly lost interest. Schatzi is STILL in love with her koala and takes it all over the house. It would go outside on the patio if I would let it, but I know if that happens, I'll be the one looking for it later!

LOL - the Dingo Bone obsession !!!!   I can identify completly with hoomans being the culprits keeping the kids awake !!!  Normally Rudy, Brandy and I go to be first - Jimmy is either on the computer or watching tv.  Sometimes after we all get settled in, Jimmy will creep in there and play with Rudy.  He will sneak in and pop his head up to the side of the bed.  Even though Rudy is buried under the covers, he KNOWS dad is there - and the play is on.  Jimmy will jump up and boo Rudy and he will bark, bark, bark.  Brandy just burrows farther under.  Then the hand under the covers game......dang......then forever to get Rudy settled back down......

Hope your kids settled down and start dreaming of something else !!!!
