Jeri

Hi everyone,

As you know, Leopold had cancer and as a result had his leg amputated last December.  This is an aggressive cancer, and even with amputation his chances are slim.  Most dogs die within two months of diagnosis, but Poldie made it to his gotcha day on May 5.  Unfortunately, since then he has become less energetic and has been eating less and less.  He will not eat dog food, and more often than not turns up his nose at our food as well.

Tonight I brought him a hamburger from Wendy's.  Not the best food for him, I know, but it's one of his favorite treats and it's become a struggle to get him to eat anything at all.  I had very little success feeding him, but Kevin is home now and it sounds like he is eating a little more for him.  However, we both think we see pain in his eyes, and he seems to tire easily.

We will take him to the vet tomorrow.  Tonight we will just love Leopold and pray all night that there is hope for him.  We are asking you to do the same.  Given his medical history, we know the odds are against his coming home tomorrow.  So please pray also that if the news is bad, we will have the courage to face what we must do to end his suffering.

I will post a follow up sometime tomorrow.

Thank you all so much.

You are in my thoughts, having been there, it is so difficult.  Which ever way it goes, you will know the best thing to do, excruciating tho it may be.  Poldie knows you are his best love, he is so pleased he had this extra time with you, however long it is. ;+}

Our love to you all.
