Well, that's what my li'l Madderoo was tonight. I was cutting some ham for dinner. I was at a rather awkward angle, but then I'm an awkward person. Anyway, a good size hunk of ham fell on the floor. Now both doggers were there and it's usually Dolly who is the Grub of the family. Well bust my buttons, for a change Dolly LISTENED to me when I said NO NO NO. She waited patiently for me to pick up the ham off the floor, however, before I could bend down.....I've got a hitch in my get-along, so it took me awhile... Maddie had munched it ALL down. I was shocked at how fast she gobbled that meat up. Well, so far, so good. She hasn't gotten sick but I'm watching. These dachshunds, I swear they'd eat until they explode. :scratch:

Hey Maddie...dis is Oscy.....can I come to yer house and get some ham?  My new brudder is faster den me and gets all da scraps!  We LOVE the ham!  It's my favorite!  You did a REALLY good job!

Haha!  Very good, Maddie!  Chilie says that you must know about the doxie 1 second rule.....if mommy hasn't picked it up a second after it hits the floor, then it's fair game.

Once I was cutting up some cauliflower for dinner, and a florette fell onto the floor.  Chilie went to it and sniffed it, then acted disinterested......until I bent down to pick it up!  As soon as she saw me moving to get it, she snarfed it down faster than I've ever seen her eat anything!   

Our doxies are such funny doggies, aren't they?

If it hit the ground, it was Rudy's, regardless of how big (or even how hot) it was.

It reminds me of the cartoon show "Two Stupid Dogs", where the dachshund eats an entire turkey by setting it on the supermarket floor and diving down on it.
