House update...
The painter sanded and stained the center beam yesterday (22 feet up in the air).  This completes the finish work that had to be done before final house cleaning could be accomplished.  There are still a few little things that need to be done, and the major appliances are in the garage waiting to be installed.

We will be able to start moving things into the house and actually put it away in rooms, closets and drawers real soon.  The guys will continue to utilize the garage as they finish the front porch, deck and exterior siding.

The plumber has been in the crawl space hooking everything up, and our water storage bladder has been installed.  It could double as a waterbed for extra guests.  ;o}

The painter is an amazing guy.  First of all, he's a perfectionist, he doesn't want anyone within a 10-yard radius of his paint can for fear a speck of dust might fall in.  And I'm not being sarcastic, I appreciate the fact that he takes such pride in painting our house.  Secondly, he must be part monkey.  In order to reach the center beam, he had to climb up a 5-foot ladder that was atop three layers of scaffolding.  Yikes!

Here's a few pictures.

This is one of those photos taken from a perspective that leads the imagination to think our house is this huge auditorium.  The next picture showing the start of the new deck puts things in proper perspective (I think).

Thanks Beth, we are very happy with our new home.  Over the 12 years we have owned the 40 acres, we have literally poured blood, sweat and tears into that land.  Domingo is buried over there, just off in the woods a little ways, between the house and barn.  His rock is visible from my kitchen window and the deck.  Next summer I can finally work on his garden and do it justice.

I love how open the floor plan is.  And I love the doxie in the shot of the front of the house!   :thumb:

I'm really glad you posted this update. I was going to ask you for one a couple of days ago, but my computer was being stubborn and slow and wouldn't let the post go through. My patience finally wore out and I planned to try again today or tomorrow. The house looks great and I'm sure you can't wait to settle in. Who is the doxie in front of the deck?

I couldn't be happier for you and Dan. Your new house is AWESOME!!! Really a showpiece. Fun to see the new barn and all now too. You have made great choices for inside the house, I just love it. It is really something to see this coming to life, after hearing about your dream for several years now. I spotted the doxie trying to blend in with the rocks too LOL is that Misty?
