Anyone else's pupper do this?

When Chilie drinks water, she stops to cough, as if it's going down the wrong pipe.  She has done this ever since she was a puppy.  Anyone else's doxie do this?

Mine don't cough, but they do sneeze occasionally when the reach too far into the water dish.  Sam is a good one for that.  Eddiie coughs when he wants attention because he knows I will say "Poor baby dog"

Bridget doesn't cough when she drinks, but our yellow lab, Joy, does.  She's not dainty at all, and when she gets to slurping really fast, she'll stop to cough and hack for a minute.  Bridget gets a case of the sneezies when she wants attention.  Kind of like when Eddie coughs.

Hallie doesn't, but my Jessie did EVERY time. My Dad would often say "Jessie is throwing up!" after she drank, because she'd cough and hack and then the last thing would be a big "YACK"...although nothing ever came out. She was just clearing her pipes. I asked the vet about it several times but they said it shouldn't hurt anything, and it never did.

By the way Beth, could you avatar be any cuter???? Can we see a close up of that? It's just adorable!

Dolly doesn't cough but Maddi sure does.  We call her "the camel" because she has always inhaled water.  She coughs and then hacks up a bit of the water about every morning after breakfast.

Schatzi does this, but only if I have my hands cupped together and I have water in them. A lot of mornings when I start the shower, Schatzi comes in for her morning drink. I put the water in my hands and she drinks it, coughs because she drinks too fast, and then goes right back to bed. Of course, as soon as I turn the water off, she is back at the door wanting in so she can try to lick the water off my feet. If she doesn't come back to the door, I know she is one tired puppy.
