But we do have a TUMMY LICKER!     Gotta ask, does anyone elses dachsies lick their tummy?  When Dolly is curled up like in a sleeping position, if you check on her, you can hear this slurp slurp slurp sound and you can reach around her curled in little head and HER TUMMY IS SOGGY!  She seems to use her tummy kind of like a security blanket and isn't ashamed at all of her tummy fetish.     My new chant to Dolly is, We don't got a pitcher, only a belly licker!  She's soooo funny.

My Buelah does the same thing.  It usually goes on for about fifteen or twenty minutes just before she settles into sleep.  She has done it since she was a pup.  I have often wondered if this is something that others do as well!

I have found Sam & Eddie washing their paws and cleaning their fur from time to time.  I just tell them they have been hanging around the cats too much.

Schatzi doesn't lick HER tummy, she licks MY legs or arms. She, too, wants to do this before going to sleep, especially at night. I tried a couple of nights ago to get her to stop by putting my hand between her tongue and my arm. All that did was make her lick my hand, but it wasn't the same and she wasn't happy about it!

LOL Dolly is a silly girl. I haven't heard of other dogs doing that but it sounds like there are. Dont' give Hallie any ideas!  I'll bet you are right it sounds like a security blanket thing...funny!

LOL!  I like your chant to Dolly.  Chilie licks her front paws, and sometimes when she's curled up, she will get her tummy too.  She does it when she is settling down to sleep.

To Teresa:  There's no shortage of tongue action around here, that's for sure.  When Dolly isn't obsessed with her belly, her turbo tongue is deep cleaning any available dishes.  She IS the rinse cycle.  And as far as licking mommy and papa?  Puleeeeeeze!  They won't stop!  Before we go to bed, when we get up, outta the shower, anywhere and anytime they find a bare leg or arm.  We call them the specialists.  They specialize in Lickology.  Maddie's ( the junior partner) special places to lick are the crook of the elbow, behind the knees and between toes.  She's relentless!  BUT WE LOVE 'EM!!

Brandy is my groomer - she licks everything !!!!  When she curls up tight, I can hear the slurp, slurp too.......she is either licking her feet or tummy and when she is snuggled in next to me on the couch, she likes to lick my legs....

She also grooms Rudy's face all the time...that he will let her !!!

I can't stand the constant "slurp, slurp".  If Cajsa gets into one of her licking phases I make her stop or get down.  She gets the entire bed wet!  ICK!  She's not so bad about it anymore, but it really annoys me.  I don't like the wet bed or the sound.

Sandi, I knew there was someone else on the board who had written about their doxie's licking them all the time. Last night when Schatzi started I just had to laugh. I looked at her and told her that I had been telling people about her. She put her head down and sighed and took about a 2 minute break from licking!

My little Libby has a toe fetish....my toes to be exact.  Whenever I am walking around the house in bare feet, she is right there trying to lick my toes...even when I am walking.  Have to be careful so that I don't kick her and make sure she doesn't trip me up.

 Well I hate to admit this one..................................but my little boy Indy everytime I am intimate with my boyfriend starts to lick the foot of the bed until we are done.  He only licks the sheets at that time and that time only. :idiot:  I usually have to change the sheets he has licked it so much.  He also has a problem with licking my face.  I have been working on it for two long years but he has a submissive problem which makes it very difficult.  I am like his drug and he always wants a fix. My Isis, who is five, licks before bed......................now I know I'm not the only one...I thought it was her allergies acting up at night....but maybe that isn't the case, lol...................Dawn

My buddy will get underneath the covers and lick the blankets or the sheet. Every once and a while I think he's gone to the bathroom on the bed because he licks so much there are huge wet spots. If I try to stop him, he just starts licking my hand instead!! How weird that they do this, I thought it was just my dog!!  :idiot:
