Yesterday Krista posted a link for me about Penny.  Well last night I called to see if anyone had contacted her about wanting Penny.  Well no one had.  I found out that she has a tumor on her tummy and it would cost about $650. to get that removed plus have her fixed.  Then me and my boyfreind started talking about adopting her.  The problem is that we have three other doxies that have cost us alot of money over the past 9 months.  My question is am I turning into one of those people that is willing to save any doxie and end up with dozen dogs?  How do I figure that out? I just feel so bad for Penny and I don't want anything bad to happen to her.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated. :verdict:

My opinion is that you should follow your heart.  I know about the $ thing, our little Mr Mauser just cost us $1700 in vet bills due to his black widow bite.  But you know what?  If you can save one little life, you're making a difference in the world where most people turn a blind eye.  There are people like you in the world for a reason, and you will get back ten fold in your life what you are gifting to these precious critters.  Maybe at some point you'll just have to tell yourself you physically can't take in anymore pups, but you could always do what my step mom does.  She volunteers her time at the animal shelter and has found so many homes for doggies without overwhelming my dad at home with dogs.  (Although every now and then she comes home with one!)  You just have to set boundries at some point, but you can't ignore what your heart wants.  You can't go wrong when you look into the eyes of the doxie who's life your love saved! :angel4:  Good luck to you!

Kathy, I live too far away......if you take her or someone does that gives her a good home....I can help with expenses for her surgery!  Only directly to the vet, but I will help....follow your heart...you could rescue her and then find her a forever home!  Good luck!

Thanks for the advice, and Dottie thanks for the generous offer.  I wasn't tring to say that we couldn't afford it but for the last 9 months it has been one thing after another.  I guess thats what happens when you have so many dogs. We will be bringing our baby girl Lexi up to met her tommorrow.  If they get along Penny will be coming home with us. If they don't get along then I will do everything help her find a home.

Penny has come to live with me.  She came home on Sunday.  She is such a sweet girl and the gang was real excited that there was a new dog in the house.  They treat her as if she has been there the whole time.

I hope you guys all have an extremely easy adjustment and that she continues to fit in perfectly.  Thanks so much for taking in this sweet girl and showing her the love she deserves!

Oh my gosh!  You have a BIG HEART to take in this little girl knowing she must have expensive suregery right away.  Okay, you'll be a few dollars poorer, but so much richer in love.
